    About Evan Jacobs:

Evan Jacobs has a great interest in the visual arts, which drove him to pursue a career in the film industry. Being part of a team of professionals working together toward a common artistic vision is something he has always been inspired by.  At the same time, still photography allows Evan the sort of singular artistic expression that filmmaking, by design, cannot.  His photography has been featured in galleries and major publications as well as the book “Vesage” from Ballistic Publishing.

During his career in the visual effects industry, Jacobs has contributed to many film, commercials and television projects most recently as a visual effects supervisor for Resident Evil: Extinction, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Hollywoodland and Ben 10: Race Against Time, which was nominated for two VES Awards in 2007.

Early in his career, Jacobs had the good fortune to learn from some of the most well respected visual effects artists in the industry, working his way up through the trenches at leading effects houses of the day such as Boss Film Studios and Fantasy II Film Effects.  He went on to serve as miniatures supervisor on the Tim Burton film Ed Wood and then in 1994, he co-founded Vision Crew Unlimited, a company specializing in miniatures and mechanical effects.  In 1998, Jacobs was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Visual Effects for a Miniseries for HBO’s From the Earth to the Moon.

Jacobs is an active member of the VES and PGA, and has spoken at industry conferences such as Australian Effects and Animation Festival and Post/LA as well as being and instructor for the Entertainment Studies Extension Program at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for three years.
