    loic.jpgAbout Loic “e338″ Zimmermann:

The work of Loïc goes from SciFi scenes to urban landscapes, silkscreen to canvas, complex layer works to single black pass, with a common taste for noise and textures in a figurative approach.

He is working as a conceptual designer and lead character artist for movies and videogames as well as an illustrator for various publications.

He recently moved from France to LA in order to join Luma Pictures (Underworld, Pirates3, No country for old man…) a SFX Venice based company in which he found a good and efficient human size structure for a bear like him to have fun with.

Coming from a traditional background, Loïc is fully addicted to computers even when it comes to his personal works. His imagery combines all sorts of sources, drawings, 3D sculpting, photos and paint merged together with plenty of room for intuition and experimentation. He describes the process as a reaction over things and collage oriented work, choosing not to mimic one particular medium.

Loïc studied art in France and ended up with a master degree in graphic design. Self taught regarding 3D, he started his career by teaching and then began a long journey through architecture, industrial design, commercials … He chose to focus on characters 7 years ago, living like an “autistic freak” in his house, showing his works online. The succession of publications and awards got him known into the CG field for his personal work rather than for his collaboration to any mainstream project, although this is about to change.
